What's this about?
Each Goodwood Festival of Speed has a theme; for 2015 it will be 'Flat-out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge'. The event celebrates drivers and riders pushing themselves and their machines to the limit. Dates for the festival have been provisionally given as 25-28th June with tickets on sale now.
What will be there?
We don't yet know who'll be participating but Goodwood always attracts plenty of famous drivers and riders plus a wide selection of historic machinery. 'Flat-out and Fearless' typifies some of the sport's most memorable drives; in 1957 Juan Manuel Fangio decided to drive "at 100 per cent for the only time in my life" in the German Grand Prix to beat the Ferraris driven by Hawthorn and Collins. Or there was the 1979 French Grand Prix with a wheel-bumping final lap between Gilles Villeneuve's Ferrari and Rene Arnoux's Renault.
Anything else?
As is now customary, the first day of the Festival, Thursday 25th June, is given over to the car manufacturers to show off their latest models. Tickets for the Goodwood Revival on 11-13 September 2015 are also on sale and a limited number of tickets for the 73rd Members' Meeting on 21-22 March are still available.
