This really is the final version of this generation of Impreza. In actual fact it's the end of the genus, as well, as Subaru eschews the lairy rally derivatives for an altogether more PC and wide-appealing hatchback. The new Impreza is here soon, the GB270 is the run-out special edition.

2007 Subaru Impreza (Road test - Mk2 WRX STi RB320)
Subaru's Impreza has always traded on its WRC heritage with a series of special editions linked to it, including perhaps the best iteration of the previous model, the RB5. Richard Burns, the late, great rally champion leant his initials to that version. It feels somewhat fitting that this final hurrah for the Impreza also bears his name.

Subaru first came to our attention as makers of funny little four-wheel drive estate cars used by impecunious farmers. More recently with Impreza rally cars, big wings and gold wheels. So it may seem a surprise to see Subaru enter the market with a big SUV that competes with the likes of the BMW X5.
