FORD MODEL LINE-UP FOR RUSSIA AT THE 1999 MOSCOW AUTOSALON

Following recent announcements that Ford Motor Company has signed investment agreements with the Ministry of Economics and Lenigrad Oblast to establish a vehicle manufacturing facility near St. Petersburg (where the Ford Focus will be produced), its model line-up for Russia went on display on Monday (23 August) at the 4th Moscow International Autosalon.

Ford products, including the Ford Focus World Rally Car were reviewed by the Russian news media, after a news conference hosted by Alain Batty, President, Ford Russia and CIS, and Nigel Brackenbury, General Director, Ford Motor Company, LLC.

The WRC Focus (seen here in Finland) was even on display in Moscow to raise interest in Ford

"Our global vision is to be the world's leading consumer company for automotive products and services. For Ford Motor Company, our return to manufacturing in Russia is an important step in achieving our long-term growth objectives", said Alain Batty. "To be successful, we will always need world-class manufacturing efficiency and quality, something we are confident to achieve with the tremendous intellectual capital existing in Russia. We are proud to be part of growing business community, to be a company that adapts and changes as fast as the Russian consumers it serves".

Nigel Brackenbury added, "We are ready to prove that customer service is our priority and confident that many show visitors will put Ford at the top of their autoshopping list once they have had a chance to see the model line-up that we are displaying here today and experience our products and services".

Ford vehicles on display include, from Ford European plants; the Ford Focus (winner of the Car of the Year 1999 award), the Cougar, the new and improved Escort (only for the Russian market), Ka, the mid-size Mondeo, Galaxy and the Ford Transit light commercial. From Ford in the United States, there is an Expedition - a full-size SUV.

"The Ford stand at the 4th Moscow International Autosalon makes a strong statement for three key attributes of Ford's success around the world", said Brackenbury, "the build quality of its vehicles, the diversity of product line-up and the creativity of its designers".

Ford Motor Company has been in the automotive business for 96 years. Presently it serves customers in more than 200 countries and is the world's largest producer of light trucks, and the second largest producer of cars and trucks combined (after General Motors), with almost 7 million sold in 1998. I'm sure that they would like to increase that figure....
