BMW M3 ONE OF TEN NEW MODELS AT FRANKFURT |
(BMW UK press release of 02 September)
BMW will display five new car models, two new motorcycles, two 'clean energy' natural gas-powered cars and a range of new bicycles at the Frankfurt Motor Show (18-26 September). The stars among this constellation will be the world debuts of James Bond's new car, the BMW Z8 super sports car, and a 'show car' version of the BMW M3. The new BMW M3 will not be seen in production form until the end of 2000, but this satin chrome rendition provides a glimpse of the production car to come. It differs more clearly from the 3-series coup than its predecessor did. Flared wheel arches, a power bulge on the bonnet, four tailpipes and wide tyres on unique M alloy wheels all give the car a muscular and distinctive appearance. |

Pictures of the BMW Z8 have been seen all around the world but Frankfurt provides the first opportunity for the public to see and touch the 400bhp super sports car. The same is true for the new 3-series Touring, due for UK introduction in November 1999, and BMW's new diesel muscle car - the 330d, which uses BMW's potent 184bhp direct injection diesel engine in the 3-series saloon body. The 330d will come to Britain early in 2000. Naturally enough, clean energy vehicles are part of BMW's new product palette. New natural gas-powered BMW models, the 320g and 523g, and a new hydrogen powered 728hL and 750hL with fuel cell also take a bow at the IAA, together with the C1 'urban commuter' which goes on sale in Spring 2000. |
