Skoda hits target for world-record arrow attempt

Skoda's Octavia vRS 245 Estate is a sharp-handling car, but this is taking things to a whole new level... The Czech brand, using the aforementioned motor, an Austrian air base (Zeltweg, in case you're wondering), Austrian Olympic archery ace Laurence Baldauff (she's a specialist in the recurve bow) and martial arts coach Markus Haas, has set the Guinness World Record for 'The Farthest Flight of an Arrow Caught by Hand From a Moving Car' - at 57.5 metres, or 188ft. Given the 68cm arrow flies in an arc at 134mph, or 60 metres per second, the catching zone was a minimal 30 metres... which meant Haas had half-a-second to snatch the arrow from the air as it whistled along. No wonder this little stunt took four months of planning. Anyway, you can watch a video of the Skoda Octavia vRS 245 setting the world record for arrow-based shenanigans, right here.
