McLaren Special Operations has announced the launch of F1 Certified, a programme to allow owners to have their F1, McLaren's '90s supercar, authenticated and given a Certificate of Authenticity, making sure their car's history is all above board. In addition to the programme launch at the Hampton Court Concours of Elegance event, MSO unveiled '25R', a fully-restored former Le Mans racer that, after a hard life on the track, was completely rebuilt to 1997 spec. Whilst 25R's team, Gulf-Davidoff, took second that year, 25R itself failed to finish and was sold to a Japanese team that raced the car until 2005. The racer's ground-up restoration started in 2016 and the car is now in the exact condition it was in when it sat on the starting grid at Le Mans back in 1997.
