Mazda is updating both the roadster and RF versions of its MX-5 for 2019. The 2.0-litre SkyActiv engine has been substantially reworked with power increasing from 160hp up to 184hp, though, thanks to some clever tech, CO2 output is actually lower than on the outgoing model. There's also been some fettling to the 1.5-litre engine, meaning power and efficiency improvements. The new 184hp engine will, initially, only be offered in the range-topping GT Sport Nav+ model (which features loads of new safety equipment as standard), trickling down the range later in the Autumn. The upgraded models, both the 2.0-litre and 1.5, go on sale from September 1st and are priced from £18,995 for an SE+ roadster, with prices for the RF starting from £22,595, running up to £29,195 for a high-spec RF GT Sport Nav+.
