Leading for 55 of the 90-lap road race Jeff Gordon took his No.24 DuPont Auto Finishes Chevrolet to victory on the 2.45 mile long track. This is Gordon's third win at this track and his fifth straight road course victory. This race win is also his fifth of this season. He was followed home by road course expert, Ron Fellows in his No. 87 Chevrolet, 0.763seconds behind the winner. Bud Pole winner and series leader, Dale Jarrett, brought his No.88 Quality Care/Ford Credit Ford home in fourth place. He still holds a comfortable lead in the series standings from Mark Martin. Jeff Gordon remains optimistic about his title chances despite trailing Jarrett by 482 points.
Gordan's NASCAR without the battle scars!
He cannot be discounted however as he has won this series twice already and has 47 victories from 210 race starts. NASCAR returns to the Michigan Speedway this weekend for round 22. Be sure to join The Car Enthusiast on August 28th for the full race report.
