Round 13 NASCAR 1999 - Round 13

As race 12 unfolded at Lowes's Motor Speedway last Sunday, it was hard to predict the final result. The 400 lap race saw the lead change between nine drivers twenty three times! The most dominant drives came from Bobby Labonte, Tony Stewart and Jeff Burton. A series of frantic pit stops increased the excitement and in the end gave a lucky break to Jeff Burton. He took a strong lead following the last round of pit stops 25 laps from the end and eventually crossed the finish line victorious.

This is Burton's third win of the season in the Exide Batteries Ford. Bobby Labonte's tenacity was rewarded with second place crossing the line behind Burton. Burton also picked up a cheque for one million dollars in prize money for his efforts. Series Leader, Dale Jarrett finished in fifth position. Jarrett now leads Burton in the series by only 33 points.

The next race takes place on June 6th at the "Monster Mile" better known as the Dover Downs International Speedway. This is a one mile oval circuit. Catch up with The Car Enthusiast on June 12th for a full report.
