Texan Terry Labonte took the No.5 Kellogg's Cornflakes Chevrolet to victory, his first of the season, at the Texas Motor Speedway. Despite a hard fought battle with Dale Jarrett which commenced after pit stops on lap 285, Labonte finally took the lead on lap 324 and stayed in front to win the 334 lap race. This win moves Terry Labonte to fifth position in the series standings. Series leader Jeff Burton in the no.99 Exide Batteries Ford finished fifth - enough to keep him on top, but he is coming under increasing pressure from third placed Bobby Labonte. Only 2 points separate the top two.
