Round 3

Adrian Fernandez was fastest in practice all weekend but only managed to set up a fourth place grid position. This did not deter Fernandez from taking his second consecutive win at Motegi in his Reynard Ford. The race was packed with spectacular spins initiated by pole sitter Gil de Ferran right at the start of the race. A dramatic spin by series leader Greg Moore on lap 199 was instrumental in assuring Fernandez victory - he crossed the finishing line in a fuel starved car. Uninspired drives came from both Dario Franchitti and Mark Blundell. Having had a good run in Homestead, Franchitti needs more positive performances from his ill handling Reynard to challenge for the title. He finished in 22nd place at Motegi. Murph (Email) |
