David Kynaston and Andy Russell have won the Hendra Tour of Cornwall in their Audi A3 Quattro to make it two wins from two events in the 2003
National Tarmacadam Rally Championship. They arrived back at the finish in Newquay 45 seconds ahead of runners-up Tim Wilson/Laurie Walker whose Subaru Impreza WRC completed the 22 stages just three seconds in front of the Escort Cosworth of defending champion Steve Hendy.
Andrew Haddon/Don Whyatt brought their ex-works Seat Ibiza 'kit car' home in 5th place to win the battle of the two-wheel drive cars, while Mark Worley/David Gamblin took Group N honours in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII.
Bob Fowden/Jerry Hynes were right behind them in their Evo VI, Graham
Coffey/Howard Pridmore (EVO VI) third, while Richard Walsh/Lisa Pickard were second in Class A7 in their Vauxhall Astra 'kit car'.
Mark Sheppard (Vauxhall Astra) and Paul Harewood (Renault Clio) spent the event dicing for Class N3 honours, the Astra eventually getting the victory by twelve seconds. Other championship class winners in Cornwall were Richard Clews/Barry James (Peugeot 106 - B10), Huw Reed/Steve Boome (Ford Escort Mk2 - B11), Martin Newson/Peter Morris (Peugeot 106 - A5) and Shaun Boyland/Simon Bawdon (Metro GTI - N1).
Amongst those on the retirements list were John and Caroline Price (whose borrowed Metro 6R4 retired towards the end of the first day with driveshaft failure), John Indri, whose similar car succumbed to engine failure, and Eian Pritchard departed the fray when his Subaru Impreza's radiator was damaged right at the end of the first leg.
