Ford Focus Zetec gains ESP
Ford's award-winning Focus keeps getting better

In October, a new model will join the Ford Focus range in the UK - the Zetec 2.0. Available in 3 and 5 door forms, and estate, this will be the highest specced Focus to date. New, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is standard, as is anti-lock brakes and a traction control system. Mercedes-Benz already has a system similar to the ESP. It has the ability to correct a slide automatically, but only intervenes in extreme situations. To distinguish the Zetec 2.0 from the 1.6 and 1.8-litre models, 16 inch alloy wheels will be standard.

Ford Racing Puma is go!

Serious car enthusiasts should rejoice that Ford have decided to produce the hot rally-based Puma road car. The original concept released by Ford Racing may have had a Mountune rally engine with 300bhp, but that was not practical for production. The official Racing Puma however is based on the concept shown at Geneva - the ST160. Little has been changed from that car, and thank the powers that be for that! It looks fantastic, and is promised to drive at least as well...

Unfortunately, only 1000 cars will be produced, at UK23,000. The good news (for UK and Ireland buyers!) is that all will be right-hand drive. Tickford have been given the job to produce the car which features bigger brakes, bespoke suspension, a more powerful 1.7-litre engine all wrapped in the muscular body to the right.

The Puma's design has not dated - it is even sexier in Racing guise
