PEUGEOT AT THE 1999 LONDON MOTOR SHOW: PREVIEW

(13 October 1999 - Peugeot press release)

Peugeot will unveil three new models at the London Motor Show, which opens to the public on Thursday, 21 October. Making its UK debut and undoubtedly one of the stars of the show is Peugeots new large luxury car, the Peugeot 607.

The 607 bears the traditional Peugeot hallmarks: clean, classic lines and state-of-the-art handling and roadholding. But these combine with a host of innovations to produce a car that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also safer and environmentally cleaner.

The Peugeot 607 will be the star of Peugeot's stand

In fact, the Peugeot 607 will be the first car in the world to be equipped with a revolutionary particulate trap which destroys microscopic exhaust particles before they escape from the exhaust of diesel versions.

Sharing centre stage with 607 will be the latest addition to Peugeots hugely successful 206 hatchback range - the 206 Dturbo.

Powered by a new breed of HDi (high pressure direct injection) diesel engine the 206 Dturbo combines sports performance with outstanding fuel economy. The new engine is also quieter and significantly reduces harmful exhaust emissions.

Also benefiting from HDi common rail diesel technology is the versatile 806 MPV range. A new model, badged GTX HDi, is equipped with a luxury level of standard specification and has a potential range of over 900 miles.

The new models will be joined by the 206 World Rally car, plus a full selection of Peugeot vehicles including the 106 city car range, the award winning 306 family car range and the delectable Peugeot 406 Coupe.
