Story by The Arrows: 20th January 2000
SILVERSTONE TEST AND PEDRO FLYING HIGH Pedro flying high Pedro de la Rosa was the only Formula One driver to attend an exclusive gathering today at Heathrow's Terminal 4 tarmac to witness the unveiling of a Quantas Boeing 747-400 aircraft, aptly named 'City of Melbourne' , in the colours of the 2000 Australian Grand Prix to highlight the first FIA Formula One Championship race of the millennium. The flying artwork features a 22 metre long, 5.6 metre high generic image of a Formula One car, together with the vibrant Grand Prix racing flags in a diamond pattern. |

Pedro, who managed to score his first point during his first race in Formula One at the Australian Grand Prix the previous year, met with Quantas executives and Australian Grand Prix organisers, conducted television interviews and rubbed shoulders and had his picture taken with Sir Sterling Moss and the Australian Grand Prix Girls. The Arrows team secured one of its showcars for this occasion which provided the perfect support image for this very creative project. Silverstone Test 20/01/00 The last day of testing with an A20 chassis saw Mark Webber complete 19 laps of a cold and damp Silverstone National circuit. Work continued on the program of software validation and developing the electronic systems that will be used on this season's A21. The team will now analyse the data collected in preparation for the first test of the new car. |
