The 1999 Tokyo show

It takes a company of Honda's vision and commitment to conceive and construct the vast Twin Ring motorsport complex at Motegi, 65 miles north east of Tokyo. Based around a world class road racing track and super fast racing oval, Motegi can host virtually every kind of motorsport event from fun karting to the US Champ car series. As part of the company's 50th anniversary celebrations Motegi was the scene for the Honda 'Fan Fun Lab' theme hall which showcased the company's world wide activities and future technologies. A whole host of imaginative interactive displays (it even included a cylinder theatre in which visitors ride a huge piston) illustrated Honda's ideas and solutions to safety, traffic control and environmental problems; the world of R&D, production technology, the role of motorsport and robotics.

Motegi is also home to the Honda collection of historic vehicles, racing cars and bikes spanning the company's more than 50 year history. Nearly 80 per cent of the collection's 450 exhibits are in full working condition. In the restoration centre visitors can see work in progress and uniquely observe the historic cars and bikes in action on a 200 m long mini test track.

In all, the Honda collection hall has an overall floor area of 8,638m2 over three floors and is open throughout the year.
