CHEVROLET BLAZER: A HIGH-PERFORMANCE PARTNER - ON AND OFF THE ROAD

  • Higher towing weight
  • Flexible choice of drive options thanks to Autotrac system

The Chevrolet Blazer 2-door should appeal to the youth market as an alternative to coupes

In the new model year the Blazers braked trailer weight has been raised to 2.6 tons which, combined with the flexible Autotrac four-wheel-drive, gives Blazer drivers more possible uses, whether off-road or on-road.

Autotrac automatically switches the vehicle from rear-wheel to four-wheel-drive on low-traction surfaces. An additional low gear and an automatic limited-slip rear differential facilitate driving under extreme conditions.

High performance and confidence in all driving situations are assured by the responsive and powerful 4300 cc V6 engine (193 hp; 338 Nm at just 2800 rpm) available with a five-speed manual or an electronic four-speed automatic transmission. All Blazer models have been categorised as low-emissions under the D3 standard for 2000.

The premium character of the Blazer -- sold in right-hand-drive in the UK -- is obvious in its capacious and well-equipped interior. While exterior dimensions (4639 mm) are compact, the interior will accommodate five passengers comfortably whilst retaining a generous cargo volume (1056 litres). But the backrests of the rear seats can also be folded down, expanding cargo capacity to 2097 litres.

Blazer passengers are treated to a high standard specification list, including air conditioning, power windows, central locking, heated wing mirrors with power adjustment - and a stereo cassette audio unit with available options such as a six-way CD-changer and the top-class Bose sound system. This option can be operated by steering wheel mounted controls. The Blazer comes with standard six-way front seat power adjustment.

Passive safety features in the Blazer include driver and passenger full-size airbags. Precisely defined rear and front crumple zones, side-impact door reinforcements, and a rigid passenger compartment which creates a safety cell are all built in.

The intelligent PASSlock theft protection feature immediately shuts down the engine if it is started without the vehicle's key; ignition is then deactivated for 10 minutes. Another feature protects against battery rundown, cutting power to any interior lights left on in the parked vehicle after just 20 minutes.

The Chevrolet Blazer 5-door is a serious load-lugging machine

The Blazer is the most successful off-roader in the States and is becoming established in the UK as a rugged and accomplished four-wheel-drive vehicle, suitable for all walks of life.

The Chevrolet Blazer comes as standard with a comprehensive three years/60,000 mile warranty and six years anti-perforation warranty.
