DAMON HILL TO CONTINUE THE SEASON FOR JORDAN GP - JULY 17 1999 |
|
On July 14 Damon made an announcement that many suspected would be his final retirement. Fortunately for us all that was not the case. Damon has decided to stay with Jordan to help the team achieve its highest placing ever in the Formula One constructors' championship. This is currently 3rd place, and it looks likely that Jordan can hold onto this position too. Frentzen is in flying form, and if Damon drives as he did in Silverstone then the points will just continue to rack up.
Damon commented: "I am looking forward to helping the Benson and Hedges Jordan team achieve its highest ever Constructors' Championship position." Eddie Jordan added: "We are all extremely pleased with Damon's decision. His contribution to this massive team effort is invaluable and we are all eagerly anticipating the last eight races." Jordan do look set for 3rd position, but we are still only half way through the season! Next GP is in Austria, July 25. Don't miss our qualifying report next week and then the full race report the following week. Jordan also announced that Frentzen is to stay for the year 2000. Eddie Jordan commented: "Heinz-Harald has been the revelation of the year and his speed and consistency has been key to B & H Jordan Mugen-Honda's current strong third place in the 1999 World Championship. We are all delighted that he will be staying with us next year and look forward to even greater success." |
