LATEST NEWS SNIPPETS: SEPTEMBER 11The Volkswagen Group are set to blow the competition away at next week's IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. In the form of Bugatti, the latest supercar from the VW Group has four-wheel drive, a sensational W12 engine (seen before in VW concepts) and an ultra-luxurious interior. The concept is based on the platform of the Lamborghini Diablo (also owned by Volkswagen), but if a production version is released, it may get an all-new chassis. The car is tagged the Chiron. Louis Chiron (1899 - 1979) raced for Bugatti at the start of the century. It is unlikely that that name would make it to production, but the car may well do in some form. Interestingly, Bugatti have not given the car an 'EB' number as has been the norm for their concepts. Let's hope they make this beauty. More details after the Frankfurt Show. |

Although the UK will not receive the latest off-roader from Mitsubishi until March, details of the Japan version are now available. The most significant difference between the new and current models is the change over to a monocoque platform. Gone are the days of a separate ladder-frame chassis. So far, two high-tech engines have been announced - a 3.2-litre diesel and a 3.5-litre V6 GDI unit. The styling is evolutionary and retains the Pajero / Shogun distinctive muscular stance. We will have a larger feature on this car in next week's issue (September 18). |
