THE TOYOTA RAV4 GIANT - A CONTRADICTION IN TERMS?
You just wouldn't, would you?

What is the difference between a RAV4 Giant and a Giant RAV4? Two wheels, 126bhp and you don't need to wear the helmet in the RAV4 Giant. In fact, both are part of the same thing: one is the trendy Toyota RAV4 and the other is a mountain bike made by Giant Bicycles. Together, they are available from Toyota dealers as a new very special edition from �18,495 on the road. A liveried cycle helmet and roof mounted cycle rack complete the set. (Whoppeee!)

A new, UK designed and made, body styling kit brings a fresh look to all four sides of the RAV4. The new front bumper, wider arches, colour-keyed side inserts, roof spoiler and new grille combine with new 17-inch alloy wheels and low profile tyres to make the RAV4 Giant look wider, lower and meaner. Unique body graphics make car and bike a perfect match.

The Giant connection comes via Toyota's sponsorship of the 'works' Giant mountain bike team, one of the top outfits in the RAV4 sponsored British Mountain Bike Championship and Series. The RAV4 shares a natural affinity with the sport thanks to its off-road style.

The Giant RAV4 bike that comes free with the car is the 'Boulder Shock' model. It has a unique RAV4 livery and is only available to buyers of the RAV4 Giant special edition car.

Powered by a 2.0-litre, 16 valve and 126bhp engine, the RAV4 Giant can reach 60mph in 11.6 seconds and a top speed of 105mph. The human power of the bike is, of course, variable, but it does run on chocolate bars and fizzy drink.

With permanent four-wheel drive and ABS the RAV4 Giant has maximum traction under all road conditions. Independent suspension all round, power steering and front ventilated disc brakes are standard equipment - ensuring the RAV4 drives and handles like a performance hatchback rather than a more conventional off-roader.



Another special edition was launched on July 12 - the "Heat" pictured right. The main features are as follows:
