HALFORDS GARAGES BRINGS F1 TECHNOLOGY TO BRITISH MOTORISTS!

Getting in the spirit of the British GP weekend, Halfords Garages, the UK's largest chain of independent garages, has launched a new way to fill car tyres using Formula One technology. For the first time on British roads, Halfords has introduced Uniflate, an alternative to compressed air for inflating car and motorcycle tyres.

Available for only �1 per tyre, Uniflate is a carefully blended mixture of non toxic and inert gases which, when tested against compressed air, deliver a safety and performance advantage by maintaining correct tyre pressures.

Standard compressed air contains water vapour and oxygen, both active components, that can lead to uneven tyre pressures. Water vapour can seep out of car tyres and also lead to high levels of corrosion when coming into contact with steel road wheels. By having minimal water content and oxygen compared to air, Uniflate allows tyres to maintain the correct pressure for longer periods of time.

The Uniflate system has been used in Formula One and Touring Car racing for a number of years, but this is the first time it has been made available to everyday motorists, and it is only available from Halfords Garages.

By maintaining correct tyre pressures, drivers will experience better handling as well as extending the life of tyres due to even wear. Greater fuel efficiency can also be a benefit of the new system which optimises the high levels of research and development that go into modern road tyres.

Halfords Garage Servicing controller Chris Smith comments: "Uniflate is a great example of how Halfords Garages has secured the latest technology from Formula One to help Britain's motorists. We are already the only national garage chain to stock Bridgestone tyres, Formula One's exclusive tyre supplier, and now we are the only garages to offer Uniflate.
