NEW HYUNDAI AMICA SET TO MAKE UK DEBUT IN FEBRUARY

Story by Hyundai: (Dec 03)

Hyundai is stepping up its presence in the mini-car sector with the launch of the five-door Amica.

Powered by a 55 bhp 1.0 litre engine and mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox, the Amica will be sold alongside Atoz when it is launched in the UK in February.

The Amica will share major mechanicals such as suspension and transmission with the Atoz, and will be built on the same platform. It will give Hyundai further sales growth in the rapidly growing mini-car sector.

The Amica offers sporty, more rounded exterior styling than the Atoz that should appeal to a younger family audience. Prices and specification will be announced in January.

Like all Hyundai models, the Amica benefits from a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and three years RAC cover.

Hyundai Car UK hopes to sell around 5,000 Amicas in 2000, while Hyundai plans to sell over 50,000 of this model in Europe next year. The Amica is built in Hyundais Ulsan plant in Korea.
