(30 September 1999 - GM UK press release)

Stand C8 (hall one) will feature the full UK line-up of vehicles from both marques, Chevrolet will feature the world's most popular sports car the Corvette, plus the Z28 Camaro, and the 4x4 Blazer along with the Seville from Cadillac. The Corvette is the latest in a long heritage of sports cars from the Chevrolet stable. Powered by the legendary 344PS, 175mph, 5.7-litre 'Small Block' V8 engine coupled to either a four-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission, it comes as either a coupe or convertible and is available with the Head-Up Display system. This sports car is one of the most endearing images from the American automobile industry and with its outstanding performance and value for money price tag it is making its mark in the UK. The Z28 Camaro is available with either a 3.8 V6 or the Corvette's punchy 5.7 V8 engine, it comes in two body styles, coupe or convertible and represents one of the best value-for-money sports cars currently on offer. Dramatic performance coupled to four usable seats, the Camaro offers excitement and functionality. The right-hand-drive Blazer is a stylish and rugged off-roader powered by a 4.3-litre V6 offering responsive throttle control and car-like comfort with real off-road ability. A unique feature of the Blazer is AutoTrac, a system that intelligently transfers power between the front and rear wheels whenever rear-wheel slippage is detected, ensuring that four-wheel-drive is always available when required without driver intervention. |

Cadillac stands for American luxury which is reflected in the Seville. High standard specification list and innovative features set this car apart in the luxury saloon market. As with the Blazer, the Cadillac is right hand drive with power coming from the smooth 305PS 4.6-litre V8 Northstar engine. This is coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission which features the Performance Algorithm Shifting system that allows the enthusiastic driver to drive the automatic transmission in much the same way as a manual box. Both Cadillac and Chevrolet are covered by a comprehensive three-year/60,000 mile warranty with around the clock roadside assistance. |
