What's all this about?
It's Jaguar's new compact SUV, the E-Pace. The full launch isn't until 13th July, but Jaguar has revealed a few photographs and a little information to whet our appetite.
E-Pace, is it electric?
No, Jaguar's electric SUV is the forthcoming I-Pace, which will go into production in 2018. The E-Pace fits below the F-Pace in the company's off-road range, mirroring the XE and XF saloons.
What do we know so far?
Pricing for UK models will start from around £28,500 and there will be a range of Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. Styling cues borrow heavily from the Jaguar F-Type, while the specification will include the latest connected technology and safety features.
According to Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar; "The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-Pace stands out. Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-Pace will do just that, albeit with its own individual character."
How important is the E-Pace?
Crossover and sport utility vehicles are big business at the moment; Jaguar says the F-Pace contributed to an 83 per cent increase in sales for the brand last year. Having a smaller SUV in its line-up should help drive further growth.
