What's this all about?
On the eve of its victory at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours race (its 18th win no less) last weekend, Porsche unveiled a limited edition of the 911 Carrera S called the Endurance Racing Edition. It's made by Porsche Exclusive, will cost £107,216 and is available to order now.
How can we tell it apart from other 911s?
Well, it's offered in three solid colours only for a start (white, black and Guards Red), with contrasting decals that reference the Porsche Team racers in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Along with that there are gloss black wheels, mirror caps, LED headlight surrounds and rear badging. Those wheels are 20-inch items and the lights feature Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus.
Anything new inside?
Sure is. Porsche Exclusive does its best work here with carbon fibre trim, illuminated door sill guards with '911 Carrera S Endurance Racing Edition' lettering, red seat belts, a red leather top dead centre marking on the GT sports steering wheel and two new embossed features - the Porsche crest on the headrests and 'Porsche Intelligent Performance' on the centre armrest. The Sport Chrono package is fitted as standard, as are special floor mats, a black rev counter, an electric sunroof and even a bespoke indoor car cover.
What about the oily bits?
Well the engine is unchanged, so it's the usual twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six, producing 420hp and 500Nm of torque. A sports exhaust is fitted though, which we approve of. The seven-speed manual gearbox is standard and the PDK dual-clutch automatic is optional. Porsche has included PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) with 20mm lower PASM Sports Chassis and rear axle steering.
Sounds lovely, when can we see more?
Porsche will show off the 911 Carrera S Endurance Racing Edition at next weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
