Bertie Fisher and Rory Kennedy brought their Toughmac Subaru Impreza to victory on AA Circuit of Ireland Rally last weekend. Nesbitt took the lead from Fisher early in the event and was in front for most of the stages. However, Fisher pushed hard and took the lead back from Nesbitt in the stages north of Drogheda on Sunday evening. A string of fastest stage times from Fisher enabled the Circuit veteran to secure his third win on this event in the last five years. This win not only gives the Toughmac Subaru driver the Irish Tarmac Championship lead but also boosts his confidence going into the next round, the Killarney Rally
Rally of The Lakes which takes place on April 30th to May 2nd.
Title challenger Austin McHale retired on stage 7 after rolling his Toyota Celica (see right!). This now puts pressure on the Dublinman to secure wins on the remaining rounds. Stephen Murphy retired his Ford Escort with mechanical trouble. The historic event was won by John Keatley in a Porsche 911.
