Last week's German GP was eventful to say the least. As predicted, the Williams dominated, with Ralf taking an easy victory when his team mate retired from the lead. A start line incident caused a restart, but luckily, despite the severity of the accident, nobody was hurt. No Formula 1 for two more weeks means the teams all have time for some catch-up development. They will need it to have a chance against the BMW-Williams, even if the championship is more or less Ferrari's already.

Mitsubishi has finally given up on the Group A regulations to stay competitive. Photograph by Mitsubishi.   Item 1 of 3: Mitsubishi launch their first WRC car

Mitsubishi have released first pictures of their first WRC-spec rally car. If you were not aware, Mitsubishi were competing against the modern breed of WRC cars with a car built to Group A specification. This is closer to production than WRC, and therefore there are more restrictions on the changes allowed. Mitsubishi have finally decided to change to the WRC rules to stay competitive. The heat is on with Ford, Peugeot, Hyundai, Skoda and of course Subaru all fielding serious WRC efforts. Ok, the Lancer did win the Safari rally, but that really is more to do with ruggedness than outright speed. From our perpective, the launch of the WRC Mitsubishi signifies Mitsubishi's commitment to the sport. Click here for a larger picture of the car.
