Quotes

Tom Walkinhaw: "I welcome the new partnership with Repsol and the arrival of Pedro De La Rosa, who has shown great talent and speed during our test sessions. I have all the confidence in Mike Coughlan's new car and I am particularly proud to see our own engine development going from strength to strength. We are realistic about our chances during the forthcoming season, but hope to improve on our overall standings."

Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim: "I am proud to be part of the significant effort of the Arrows Team, as it prepares for the 1999 Formula One season. I believe the new found reliability of the car will set the foundation from which we are confident that we will surpass our result of 1998 and begin our development into a more competitive team."

Arrows have recently obtained large financial backing, but are not launching their car until the eve of the San Marino GP in May. The driver rumours have been nothing but confusion too; Salo was in, then he wasn't and finally Takagi was hired. Jordan's test driver from last season Pedro De La Rosa will be joining him. As regards the money they will be receiving, it seems like too little too late. Tom Walkinshaw will be gritting his teeth, waiting this season out before they can put that money into next year's research.

The Australian GP proved, however, that the Arrows are reliable (the car is not very far removed from the 1998 model), as Pedro De La Rosa scored a point for the team in the first race of the year!
