Audi A6 L e-tron concept

Audi A6 L e-tron concept   Audi has revealed a plug-in hybrid version of its best-selling car on the Chinese market. The A6 L e-tron is a long wheelbase model that has been stretched by around 10 centimetres to give extra legroom for rear seat passengers. Long wheelbase cars carry a lot of status in China. It is unlikely we will see the A6 L e-tron in the UK as Audi has stated that the long wheelbase model is China specific, but the hybrid technology - shared with the recently launched A8 Hybrid - should trickle down to future e-tron models in Europe.

Audi RS Q3 concept

Audi RS Q3 concept   If you're in any doubt that Audi has an RS version of the Q3 crossover in mind, check this bad boy out. A blue-black colour theme is carried through from the carbon fibre laden exterior to the production-ready cabin. Under the bonnet is a 360hp turbocharged five-cylinder engine and there are Chinese characters in the rev counter.

BMW 3 Series L

BMW 3 Series L   In China, the length of one's wheelbase is directly related to their social standing so long-wheelbase cars are all the rage. Hence BMW will offer an extended wheelbase version of the new 3 Series, alongside the regular length car that also took its Chinese bow in Beijing. The platform, a whole 11cm longer than normal, could also be used to underpin the long awaited 3 Series Gran Coupé or Gran Turismo models.

BMW i8 Concept Spyder

BMW i8 Concept Spyder   Some of the idiosyncrasies of the Vision EfficientDynamics concept may be lost in this latest show car, but the Concept Spyder is very close to production and BMW has all but confirmed that an open version of the i8 will hit its showrooms at some stage. Still looks fabulous.

Bugatti Veyron Wei Long

Bugatti Veyron Wei Long   Another motor show, another one-off Veyron. Unveiled alongside the Grand Sport Vitesse the Wei Long is a China specific model built to commemorate the Chinese Year of the Dragon. Featuring dragon engraved porcelain detailing the Wei Long comes with the standard 1,001hp Veyron engine and a price north of £1.2 million.

Citroen Numero 9 concept

Citroen Numero 9 concept   Citroen lends glitz to its DS line with the Numero 9 concept, which probably doesn't preview a new DS9 so much as the direction the next three DS models will take. Inspired by the Metropolis concept that was shown in Shanghai in 2010 the Numero 9 takes the shape of a shooting brake with seating for four. Based on an extended version of the Citroen C6 platform the Numero 9 is powered by a plug-in hybrid system that mates a 225hp version of the firm’s 1.6-litre THP petrol turbo engine to a 70hp electric motor.

Eterniti Artemis

Eterniti Artemis   The 'boutique British luxury brand' brought its Artemis 'super SUV' to what is destined to become its biggest market. The car formerly known as the Hemera is a re-skinned and rebadged Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a level of bespoke detailing that makes Mulliner Bentleys look off-the-shelf. It will also come with a £252,000 (plus local taxes) price tag.

Ferrari 458 Italia special edition

Ferrari 458 Italia special edition   Ferrari celebrated its 20th anniversary in China by launched a limited edition of the 458 Italia. Just 20 examples of this Chinese-market only model will be built, all sporting a bespoke Marco Polo Red paint finish with gold and black stripes, a gold dragon motif and gold-painted alloy wheels.

Fiat Viaggio

Fiat Viaggio   The new Viaggio saloon will be a Chinese-built version of the Dodge Dart that uses an extended version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta architecture as its underpinnings. Confused yet? The Viaggio will be built in conjunction with Fiat's Chinese partner, Guangzhou Automobile Group. The Viaggio is expected to be more upmarket than the Dodge Dart and will be powered by Fiat's turbocharged 1.4-litre engine. Whether the new car makes it to Europe or not remains to be seen.

Infiniti M37 L

Infiniti M37 L   Like its premium rivals BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti plans to go long with an extended wheelbase version of its M37 saloon. The new car will be 15cm longer than the regular M37 but strangely, considering China is Infiniti's second largest market after the US, the new car will not be built in China, which could lead to a price disparity that would affect sales.

JAC Heyue SC

JAC Heyue SC   Anyone who watched the Top Gear Chinese episode will know that the market is flooded with cars 'inspired' by foreign manufacturers. The Heyue SC has a Lotus 'inspired' front end, rear lights that look distinctly like those of the Ferrari Enzo, a stunningly similar dashboard to that of the Audi R8 and what looks to be a Vauxhall steering wheel, although we are sure Vauxhall knows nothing about it. Power will come from a 2.4-litre four-pot engine that puts out 162hp and will compete with the Brilliance BS3 Coupé that doesn't look like a Mercedes-Benz CLK at all...

Lamborghini Urus concept

Lamborghini Urus concept   The big surprise regarding the Urus was not the fact that Lamborghini would build it but the fact that it managed to keep the car under covers until a few days before its unveiling when images were leaked onto the internet. Featuring styling inspired by the Estoque concept saloon the SUV is said to pack 600hp from its as yet unidentified engine.

Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupé

Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupé   Mercedes-Benz used the Auto China show to introduce the latest variant based on its MFA platform that currently underpins the new A- and B-Class. The Concept Style Coupé (CSC) is a small four-door coupé in the style of the CLS and it is expected to go on sale in 2013. Reports suggest the car will be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations and if the latest spy shots relating to the A-Class are to be believed we could also see a 300hp AMG-tuned version.

MG Icon concept

MG Icon concept   Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), which owns the MG brand, revealed its Icon concept in Beijing. It previews a new small crossover in the vein of the Nissan Juke and takes more than a hint of its styling inspiration from the MG Midget. It's expected to go on sale in China and maybe even in Europe.

Porsche Cayenne GTS

Porsche Cayenne GTS   Porsche finally got around to making a GTS version of the second generation Cayenne SUV. Designed as the choice of the purists the GTS is based on the naturally aspirated Cayenne S model but with a massaged 4.8-litre V8 that produces 420hp, 20 more than was offered in the old GTS. Power is transmitted to the tarmac via an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and unique 20-inch alloy wheels. The power allows the Stuttgart behemoth to sprint for 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 162mph. For the first time in the GTS drivers will have all this information, and a whole lot more, thanks to the fitment of Porsche's Sport Chrono package.

Renault Talisman

Renault Talisman   Renault may have culled the bigger, more luxurious cars from its range in the UK, but in China those are exactly the types of vehicles that sell. So Renault, in conjunction with Asian partner Samsung Motors, unveiled a new flagship saloon designed specifically for the Chinese market. Based on the Korean Renault-Samsung SM7, the new Talisman saloon is expected to cost the equivalent of just over £30,000 and Renault will target young businessmen "who are looking for a car that meets both professional and personal requirements." Renault is unlikely to export the Talisman to Europe though.
