| Long Term Test | Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart |
Been anywhere interesting?
I'd love to say that the Ralliart and I have been busy taking in track days and the likes, but the harsh reality is that the gutsy little Ralliart has been going about the job of daily driving. It's due to go back soon and I've been piling on the miles as a result - simply because I enjoy driving it so much. Over a thousand miles was covered in a single week alone this month, the Colt impressing with its ability to cover long distances with big car ease.
Anything stand out...?
That long-legged ability was pressed into service for a run up to Graypaul Ferrari in Nottingham to discuss Ferrari's Approved Used scheme. Even after a day sampling Ferrari's finest, the Colt impressed, not least because the chaps at Graypaul gave it a damned good scrub. It really does look great when it's clean, something that it rarely is since it has moved to Hove with me. Blame the seagulls and the trees lining all the roads around where I live.
It's been three- or four-up a few times recently, the rear seat space not quite as tight as I'd imagined - so long as you're not going too far. The engine keeps getting stronger too, it rolling past 8,000 miles this month. Oh, and it's still not using any oil.
...and for the wrong reasons?
It might be able to carry a few passengers fairly comfortably, but there's nowhere to put any luggage. That's as much down to the fact that the boot still contains a lot of my junk, but even if it didn't its size is a seriously limiting factor.
There are a few more creaks and rattles around the interior with its advancing miles and the driver's foot mat is beginning to curl up at the edges and needs moving regularly and I'm convinced that the fabric where the front right-hand seat squab meets the main cushion only has a few thousand miles in it before it gives up.
Where next?
It's going back to Mitsubishi in a matter of weeks. We're more than a little bit gutted here, as the little Colt has been a big hit during its time with us.
