| Long Term Test | BMW 330d M Sport saloon |
Been anywhere interesting?
Another long journey to the coast with a full complement of passengers and luggage. The destination this time was the wild west of Ireland, via some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Sadly the weather didn't play ball, but inclement conditions are never a problem for the surefooted 3 Series. It deals with badly pockmarked roads well, though the damping is stiff so passengers don't always appreciate the body control.
Anything stand out...?
Having had the keys to this car for almost a year now there's little I don't know about it, but surprisingly, I still enjoy looking it. The facelifted lines work particularly well with the eye-catching Bluewater paintwork and the fancy lights are probably as responsible for the numerous glances it receives as anything else. In this spec, I can't name a saloon that looks better.
...and for the wrong reasons?
Is it being picky to say that it's impossible to keep the interior clean? Well there you have it: it is! My baby boy can't be blamed for the mess either, as he's always strapped down when in the car, but soon after a good clean there's a noticeable build up of grit and dust everywhere. It's such a pity, as the leather seats are fantastic and the cabin looks like new as soon as it receives a full valet. There are few signs of wear and tear either from our time with the car either.
Where next?
Back to BMW sadly. We have one last long drive through Wales, taking in Snowdonia and the lightly trafficked A470 south of Betws-y-coed before pointing the satnav at BMW HQ in Bracknell. I'll file one last report as a summary, but it'll be obvious to our readers that the 330d will be missed around here.
