What's all this about?
Infiniti is joining forces with the Support Our Paras charity to enter a not-for-profit race team into next year's British Touring Car Championship.
How does this work?
The team, called Infiniti Support Our Paras Racing, will run two NGTC-spec Q50 cars in the 2015 season, with the vehicles prepped and maintained all season by injured paratroopers in the pits. Any profits the team makes will go directly to the Support Our Paras cause.
Very noble. And who will be driving?
Not any of the paras - yet. But the longer-term aim of the venture is to one day see an injured paratrooper competing in the BTCC. For next season, it will be Richard Hawken and Derek Palmer Jnr, both of whom have recent experience of driving in Super Touring Cars.
Anything else you can add?
The team principal is Derek Palmer Senior, who said "We've set ourselves a number of significant but achievable targets. Of course we are aware of the challenges ahead of us, but with the united forces of The Paras and Infiniti, we believe we have the power to deliver results in the BTCC."
