What's this then?
This is an autonomous Audi RS 7 Sportback that is going to drive around the Hockenheim circuit in Germany next weekend.
Autonomous. Isn't that like the Google Car?
Yes, yes it is. Though I doubt the Google Car has been to too many race circuits.
Probably has you know.
Actually you are probably right - race circuits are the ideal place to test autonomous cars. I doubt the Google Car has done full speed laps of a circuit as part of the DTM season finale, at speeds of up to 240km/h - and lapped the circuit in around the same time as a professional racing driver would.
Wait, did you say this is going to race in the DTM season finale?
No it will not take part in the race itself, instead will conduct its pilotless lap as part of the weekend's festivities. Sort of like Diana Ross singing at half time in the Superbowl I'd imagine.
So you're saying the RS 7 Sportback is like Diana Ross then?
That's not what I said at all...
I think you'll find you did!
Anyway... coverage of the pilotless lap will be broadcast online at Audi MediaTV with coverage starting 12.45pm on October 19.
