What's going on here then?

It's the Euro-Mustang! Woohoo!! So, that's an American muscle car with a string of onions around each wing mirror, some bratwurst in the boot and an Earl Grey dispenser instead of a cup-holder, right? Erm, no, it's just the European spec version of Ford's immortal pony car, sporting its supposedly trans-Atlantic-friendly 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, now confirmed to be coming with 314hp and 434Nm of torque. Sounds a bit under-fed? Don't worry, you can have the full Tex-Mex menu item too; the 5.0-litre V8 with 418hp, but you'd better make sure your ExxonMobile share options are all paid up for that one.

The Mustang has been subtly altered for Europe on the outside, with revised tail lamps, side mirrors and a mildly different front end treatment.

How would that be a bad thing? OK then, killjoy, there are some other vehicles on the Ford stand in Paris. How about the all-new S-Max? Sleeker and leaner than before, it's based on the same chassis as the new Mondeo and packing a choice of 160hp 1.5-litre and 240hp 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engines. Diesel powertrain CO₂ emissions will be reduced by an anticipated seven per cent, with options including a 120hp 2.0-litre TDCi and revised 150- and 180hp 2.0-litre TDCi engines. Four-wheel drive also will be offered for the first time.

There's the revised C-Max MPV too, which gets an all-new front end with the now signature gaping Ford grille, claims of greater refinement and a new 105hp 1.5-litre diesel engine with 99g/km of CO₂.

Finally, there's the Edge. No, not the U2 guitarist (although Ford can have that little marketing gem for free), but Ford's new big SUV, imported from the States, tweaked for Euro-tastes and set to take on the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe and BMW X3 from next year. Edge also will feature Ford Adaptive Steering, introduces to Europe Active Noise Cancellation technology and is available with two versions of Ford's 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine. The 180hp version delivers 400Nm of torque and projected 149g/km CO₂, when paired with a six-speed manual transmission; a 210hp version delivers 450Nm of torque and projected 159g/km, with a six-speed PowerShift automatic and paddle-shift controls.

Sounds like a good line-up.

"These great new vehicles will kick start what I believe will be another major year for Ford of Europe", said Stephen Odell, Ford executive vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa. "2015 will be a year in which the Ford of Europe product-led business transformation continues to make significant advances."

Now give me the keys for the Mustang.
