What's all this about?
Following on from confirmation that these two models would be at the Paris Motor Show, which kicks off this week, Kia has given us more details on and our first look at the revised versions of the Rio and Venga.
Are they massively different from before?
No, this is just some mild visual fettling outside and in to keep the cars in contention in their respective market segments. Both models get Kia's latest signature 'tiger nose' grille, revised bumpers and some jazzy new alloy wheel designs, from 15- to 17-inches in size.
And inside?
A few new trim materials, some chrome in the Rio and dark metal in the Venga. Both can be optioned with Kia's audio-video navigation with a seven-inch display screen, while the Venga can also have a heated steering wheel, if you detest driving first thing in the morning in the depths of winter with cold hands.
What about under their bonnets?
Both benefit from the Korean firm's second-generation start-stop (ISG) system, while the Rio also has low-rolling resistance tyres. Power on the Rio runs from 75- to 109hp, depending on the market, while the Venga is a little more muscular - outputs range from 77- to 128hp. Both are front-wheel drive as before, with a choice of two manual transmissions (five- or six-speed items) or a four-speed auto.
Any word on economy and emissions?
Only one stat - the Venga range's CO2 emissions begin at 114g/km. Which is... OK.
And when do they go on sale?
Both cars will be available to order in European dealerships in early 2015. Form an orderly queue, if you please...
