What's the news?
Infiniti has announced a range of improvements for the Q70, with the updated model making its debut at the Paris Motor Show next month. There is a new diesel engine and improved on-board connectivity, as well as some styling tweaks.
Exterior
A range of visual changes identify the new Q70 and bring the appearance closer to that of its little brother, the Q50. Both front and rear bumpers are reshaped for a more 'chiselled' appearance, LED headlamps are standard and the same technology is said to make the tail lamps more visible. The grille, in standard and Sport styles, is also redesigned. All new Q70s will come with 18-inch wheels as standard.
Interior
Several points in the Q70's structure have been modified to reduce noise transmission to the interior of the car. The quieter cabin should allow passengers to appreciate the improved on-board smartphone connectivity. There are also additional 12-volt power outlets and extra storage spots placed throughout the cabin.
Mechanicals
Infiniti has added a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine for the European market. This engine develops 167hp and maximum torque of 400Nm between 1,600- and 2,800rpm. The Q70 Hybrid is also improved with lower friction components in the 3.5-litre V6 engine and new management software. A slight improvement in range in electric mode is claimed and prolonged 'sailing' at cruising speed with the engine decoupled is possible with the new set-up.
Anything else?
Deliveries of the new Infiniti Q70 are due to start this December with pricing to be confirmed nearer the launch date.
