What's the news?
Long-established Range Rover tuning firm Overfinch will be presenting its limited production version of the current Sport model at this year's Salon Privé supercar event, running from September 3-5 at Syon Park, West London.
Exterior
You're not likely to miss the Overfinch version of the Range Rover Sport. With a body kit designed by its in-house team (headed by Tony Fox), the Overfinch has a pretty brutal look thanks to plenty of carbon fibre addenda. The aim of the styling was to widen the RRS and the Leeds-based firm has certainly achieved that, thanks to flared front air intakes and a rear diffuser that all butch the body up. The SUV also boasts a larger front splitter, LED lights in the air intakes, a rear spoiler at the end of the roofline and cast and polished quad tailpipes. There's also Overfinch badging front and rear. Further, the tuning house offers its own exclusive lightweight, forged and cast alloy wheel designs from 21- to 23 inches in size.
Interior
It's all bespoke and high-end craftsmanship inside too, elevating the already-sumptuous RRS cabin to new heights. Choose from a range of fine wood veneers or carbon fibre trim, all to complement the Bridge of Weir leather upholstery - for which you can choose different designs, colours and stitching patterns. Expect no two Overfinch models to be the same inside.
Mechanicals
The same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine lives under the bonnet, albeit with an ECU remap, an upgraded supercharger and an Overfinch stainless steel exhaust system. No torque figures are quoted, but Overfinch does reckon the power gain will be in the region of 43hp, meaning the RRS leaps from 510- to 553hp output. There's also a feature that activates valves in the exhaust to give a sportier, snarling V8 soundtrack. Nothing new in that, you might think, except for the fact these are Bluetooth-controlled; there's a 'track mode' button on the Overfinch's key fob that switches between the two exhaust set-ups.
Anything else?
Just 100 of these Overfinch Range Rover Sports will be built per year in the UK, with prices starting from £87,995 - not actually that much more than the RRS Autobiography Dynamic, which is priced at £81,550. Obviously, the Overfinch catalogue of personalisation means the price can quickly be increased. Tickets to Salon Privé 2014, running from September 3-5, are available now and can be purchased either by calling the Ticket Hotline on 0808 100 2205 or online at www.salonprivelondon.com/product-category/full-hospitality/.
