What's the news?
Vencer, an all-new Dutch supercar manufacturer, is set to make its UK debut at Salon Privé. Its first model is a mid-engined, low volume machine known as the Sarthe that made its world debut in Monaco earlier this year.
Exterior
Looks-wise, the Sarthe follows the traditional supercar recipe. The bodywork is long, wide and low slung. It's built around a steel space frame chassis featuring an aluminium honeycomb floor. This combination of materials should at least ensure a strong, lightweight model.
Interior
Inside, the Sarthe doesn't use its supercar image to scrimp on luxury. The sports seats are trimmed in a leather/Alcantara mix and more leather can be found on the flat-bottomed steering wheel. Aluminium features on the sports pedals, gear stick and branded dashboard. The lack of traditional dials is compensated by a large, centrally mounted display that is joined by a climate control system. An infotainment system is also included as standard and other toys are only available as optional extras.
Mechanicals
In the middle of the Sarthe is a General Motors 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine developing 510hp, hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox. Its 0-62mph time is claimed to be 3.8 seconds and top speed is more than 200mph. Thanks to its lightweight construction and double-wishbone suspension, the Sarthe has all the right ingredients to be a good handler, too. Having said this, drivers will need to have their wits about them as the only electronic assistance on offer is ABS and EBD.
Anything else?
The 2013 Salon Privé event will take place from 4th-6th September at London's Syon Park.
