As we sit here today, the USA remains Porsche's biggest market. More than 28,000 cars were sold there so far this year; representing a 13 per cent increase on last year. October alone is enjoying 44 per cent more sales than the same month in 2011. It seems only right therefore, that Porsche should use this year's Los Angeles Motor Show to debut two new cars.
The first model is the US unveiling of the 2013 911 Carrera 4. This popular version of the 911 is recognisable from other versions thanks to a wider rear section and a red light strip running across the back of the car, connecting the two sets of rear light clusters. The 911 Carrera 4 is powered by the company's 350hp 3.4-litre flat-six; while the more powerful 400hp 3.8-litre engine is reserved for the S models.
The second car to be unveiled by Porsche in LA seems to be shrouded in mystery at present. Revealing no clue as to power output, market positioning or rivals; the only info Porsche is telling us is that it is a 'world premiere of a compact sports car'. Could it be the new Cayman? Or could it be the introduction of an all-new, more affordable vehicle aimed at a younger demographic? The official unveiling is set for international media at 12:05pm on 28th November; so when we know more, you'll know more.
