Porsche has released initial details of a new mid range model, the Cayman. Placed, in terms of performance and price, between the Boxster S and
997 Carrera, the new model is a two seater fixed head coupe based on the highly accomplished Boxster platform.
Cayman is named after the small crocodilian famed for its speed and agility and promises to live up to this name thanks to the proven Boxster platform upon which it is based. Already a stiff structure, the Cayman will benefit further thanks to the addition of the fixed roof, which should give it even more precise and enjoyable handling than its drop top sibling.
Boasting 295bhp from its mid mounted 3.4-litre boxer six the Cayman promises to offer exceptional performance as well. No figures have been released as yet but expect a 0-60mph time in the low five-second bracket and a maximum around the 170mph mark.
Full details and pictures will be released later in the year. We'll bring you them as soon as they are available. Expect the Cayman to be revealed at the
Frankfurt Show in September. We'll be there.
