Jaguar has announced the creation of 1,100 new jobs at its Castle Bromwich factory. The extra positions are necessary to support the launch of new models.
The introduction of the XF Sportbrake, increasing sales and a number of model updates means more factory workers are required. Jaguar has already employed 8,000 extra people over the last two years.
Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said: "The launch of our latest Jaguar models, including the new XF Sportbrake later this year, means it is a very exciting time for Jaguar. These new models will attract new customers to the brand as we look to expand our global reach and further enhance our position in the market."
Business Secretary Vince Cable welcomed the news describing it as "fantastic news" for Castle Bromwich and demonstrating Jaguar Land Rover's commitment to the UK.
