The second car in the Hyundai i30 range has broken cover. Set to be officially unveiled as the Geneva Motor Show the i30 Wagon will join the recently launched five-door hatchback in the Korean manufacturer's offensive in the highly competitive C-segment.

Designed, engineered and manufactured in Europe the new estate shares the same 'fluidic sculpture design' language as its hatchback brethren but from the B-pillar backwards is completely new. The curving roofline and swage lines that raise the waistline give the wagon a more dynamic and athletic stance than the hatchback on which it is based. One hundred and eight-five millimetres longer than the hatchback the 'New Generation' wagon is also 10mm longer than its predecessor and, according to Hyundai, is one of the most accommodating vehicles in its class. This claim is down to the 528-litre boot space the wagon possesses as standard, which can be extended to 1,642 litres with the rear seats collapsed.

Full UK specification and pricing have yet to be confirmed, but we do know that the i30 Wagon will be offered with the same three petrol and three diesel engines as the five-door i30, with power outputs ranging from 90- to 135hp.

The new generation i30 wagon will be unveiled alongside Hyundai's other newcomers during the company's Geneva Motor Show press conference on Tuesday March 6.
