Since the Toyota GT 86 was first unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show the internet has been awash with speculation regarding its pricing. As is the way with such speculation it has ended up being wide of the mark as the new coupé will cost just £24,995 when it goes on sale in the UK in June.

At that price the rear-drive, 2.0-litre 'boxer' powered car would appear to be the performance bargain of the 21st century. Much has been made of the fact that the GT 86 'only' returns 200hp but as Kyle found out recently the classic front-engine, rear-wheel drive set-up in a light, compact and nimble chassis is a joy to behold.

Toyota has already received a lot of advance orders for the GT 86 and with the price point now so low we imagine the phones will be ringing off the hook.
