Infiniti is set to shake up the sports car sector by unveiling the Emerg-E advanced sports car concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The firm already makes a hybrid saloon, but for the first time the Japanese performance brand will offer a mid-engined sports car; and the configuration is expected to help with handling and weight distribution.
A strict two-seater, it's likely the Emerg-E will refrain from being a stripped-out lightweight racer and adhere to the firm's reputation for luxury and comfort. Still, with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, supplemented by an electric motor, performance should be more than competitive with contemporary sports cars with conventional powerplants. And for those concerned with saving rather than just travelling through the countryside, zero-emission running will be possible thanks to the on-board battery packs.
Anyone not able to make it to the March show can watch the reveal live at 10:15am on the 6th March at www.infiniti.eu.
