SEAT has released details of its version of the VW up! city car; the Mii. It will go on sale in Spain by the end of the year and be available across Europe by Spring 2012 with a five-door version also in the pipeline.
Power comes from a 1.0-litre petrol engine offered in 59- and 74bhp power outputs. SEAT claims the 854kg Mii will offer 'nimble agility and exemplary efficiency'. Claimed top speeds for the two versions are 99- and 106mph while the fuel consumption figures are 63- and 60mpg. Two Ecomotive versions will be offered with a stop-start system and other fuel saving measures. These promise CO2 emissions of 97g/km and 67mpg economy.
Equipment includes City Safety Assist, which works at speeds below 18mph to detect a stationary vehicle ahead and warn the driver before applying the brakes. There is also the SEAT Portable System, an on-board navigation, communication and entertainment system. This features a five-inch screen and can be removed for use away from the car.
Although in profile the Mii bears a strong resemblance to its VW and Skoda cousins the car gets a scaled-down version of the SEAT corporate 'face'.
Full details of prices, specifications and equipment levels for right-hand drive models will be released closer to the Mii's UK launch date in 2012.
