Land Rover will reveal a concept car that will pave the way for the new Defender at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.
The replacement may be based on a simplified version of the Discovery chassis, but it has also been hinted that Land Rover is developing a totally bespoke system. Either way, the next Defender is expected to offer the same variety of body styles fitted to the current model and it will be just as capable off-road.
Land Rover describes the market place for the Defender as 'cut-throat'. As is often the case with the company's products, the next Defender will probably be costlier than its immediate rivals, but, if past models are anything to go by, its abilities will be far greater.
The launch of the new Land Rover Defender is currently scheduled for 2015.
