The Skoda Yeti was named 'Car of the Year' at the inaugural Honest John motoring awards in London last week following its win earlier in the evening in the 'Crossover' category.
Daniel Harrison, Editor of
www.honestjohn.co.uk, said the Skoda Yeti had captured the imagination of the website's users: "The Skoda Yeti is a smash hit, attracting more interest over the past year than any other car."
The SEAT Ibiza ST was named the 'Most Highly Rated Car' by its owners in reviews on the website. Other outstanding award winners were the 60mpg+ Hyundai i10 Blue, which was named 'The Most Genuinely Economical Petrol Engined Car' and Jaguar who won the 'Most Surprisingly Economical Car' title for its XJ diesel model - capable of returning over 41mpg in normal use.
Fiats's diminutive 500 TwinAir was rewarded with the title 'Most Brilliant Rule Bender.' Honest John explained that it is so low in emissions that it's tax and congestion charge free.
Ford had a good evening winning two awards for best large car with the Mondeo and best people carrier with the C-Max. Land Rover won best 4x4 with the Freelander 2, BMW's 3 Series gained the executive car award, and the VW Golf was named as the best small family car. Audi's A1 was rewarded with the best small hatchback title.
The final winner was Event Tyres who won the 'Outstanding Achievement' award for being the motor trade business most consistently endorsed by Honest John's readers in the past 12 months.
