A slice of Italian coach-building history is up for grabs in May when designer Bertone sells off six of its prototypes. The sale will take place at the exclusive Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este classic car event.
Among the amazing collection of cars for sale, the original Lancia Stratos HF Zero prototype is expected to sell for between £1 million and £1.8 million in the auction. Joining the Lancia is a trio of Lamborghini one-offs, including the 1967 Marzal driven by Prince Ranier and Princess Grace of Monaco at the start of that year's Monaco Grand Prix.
The other two Lamborghinis are the 1974 Bravo that is said to have inspired the Countach and the 1980 Athon. Both are expected to sell for between £150,000 and £220,000.
Also for sale is another Lancia, the 1978 Sibilo and the Chevrolet Testudo from 1963 that should make £500,000 to £800,000 in the auction.
Max Girardo, from auctioneers RM who is running the sale, said: "These cars represent a highly significant slice of Bertone's creative history, as well as a unique opportunity to purchase some of the best known and most influential dream cars ever built. This coupled with the fact that the upcoming auction represents the very first time that any of these six vehicles have been offered for sale on the public market, makes for a unique and very special ownership opportunity."
