Geneva Motor Show 2011: Mansory Cormeum
Bling-meister Mansory has re-bodied the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in carbon fibre to create the Cormeum.

What is it?

Take one unsuspecting Mercedes SLS AMG, chloroform it and strip it naked. Then, recover it in carbon fibre bodywork to save 90kg over a standard SLS and, just to make sure everyone knows this is what you've done, give it a Batmobile-esque front end. Subtle, the Cormeum isn't.

Why's it here?

Mansory has a track record of taking perfectly fine luxury and sporting cars and then, ahem, tuning them. The Cormeum - its name comes from an opera - is prime Mansory fodder. Its gaping front air intakes, rear wing and carbon bodywork are not for the faint-hearted, though they have left the gullwing doors untouched and the new headlights are arguably better looking than the original SLS's.

Mansory has also applied its mind to the engine, which increases in power to 651bhp. Or customers can opt for a 789bhp upgrade to make sure the Cormeum is a bit nippier. It sits 20mm lower than a standard SLS on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloys, while the wheels themselves now sit further apart as Mansory has widened the track to make the Cormeum stable at high speed.

Show stopper or floor filler?

If you're wealthy and tasteless Eurotrash, the Mansory Cormeum has every right to sit among the great and the good. For us, though, this blinged and winged SLS AMG is floor filler. Sure, it has power and presence, but it's just too cartoon-ish to be taken seriously.
