Peugeot has released details of the new 508's specification and pricing. Both saloon and estate (SW) versions will go on sale in the UK this April.
At launch seven engine and transmission options will be available. The two petrol engines both displace 1.6-litres; the 120bhp VTI version comes with a six-speed electronically controlled manual gearbox (ECG); while the 156bhp, THP version is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The 1.6-litre HDi turbodiesel is offered with five-speed manual or six-speed ECG transmission; the latter also features Peugeot's latest stop-start system to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. The ECG-equipped saloon manages 64.2mpg with CO2 emissions of 109g/km.
At the top of the range is the 2.0-litre, 204bhp HDi turbodiesel with six-speed automatic transmission. Only available in the Peugeot 508 GT, this model also features double wishbone front suspension instead of the MacPherson strut set-up of other 508s.
Prices start at £18,150 for the 508 Access saloon with the 1.6-litre VTI engine and £19,175 for the equivalent estate. The GT model costs £28,750 in saloon form or £29,975 for the SW.
